Photography has been part of my life for more than four decades. What started as a fascination at the age of 15 gradually developed into a lifelong passion for capturing light, moments, people, places and stories through images.

My photographic journey began with a Russian-made Sokol analogue camera. It was a fully manual camera, which meant there was no automation to rely on. I had to learn the fundamentals of photography myself: exposure, aperture, shutter speed, focus, light and composition. Looking back, those early years gave me something that remains valuable today, a solid understanding of how photography actually works.

From analogue to digital photography

When digital photography began to emerge, I experimented with several of the early digital cameras and enjoyed discovering what this new technology made possible. A major milestone came in 2004, when I bought my first serious digital camera, the Fujifilm FinePix S5600. It marked the beginning of a more deliberate and creative approach to photography.

In 2007, I made the transition to digital SLR photography. Cameras such as the Canon EOS 400D and later the Canon EOS 7D Mark 1 became part of my photographic journey. Over the years, my collection of lenses, accessories and equipment grew, allowing me to experiment with different photographic styles and techniques.

Today, I primarily use a Fujifilm X-T30. Its compact size, versatility and excellent image quality suit the way I like to photograph. For me, photography has never been simply about owning the latest equipment. The camera is a tool; understanding light, composition and the subject remains far more important.

Photography, technology and creativity

I am a self-taught photographer. Over the years, I have developed my skills through continuous practice, experimentation, research and simply taking a lot of photographs. My background in ICT and DTP (desktop publishing) has also had a strong influence on the way I approach photography. Combining technical knowledge with visual creativity allows me to look at an image from both perspectives: how it works visually and how it can be technically refined.

That combination has also led me towards more professional and commercial photographic projects over the years, while photography itself remains primarily a personal passion.

Exploring AI and photography

Photography is constantly evolving, and I am particularly interested in the possibilities created by artificial intelligence and modern image-processing technology. In recent years, I have started experimenting with combining my own photographs with AI-driven tools. Sometimes this means subtle enhancements or creative adjustments; in other cases, an original photograph becomes the starting point for an entirely new visual interpretation.

I see AI not as a replacement for photography, but as another creative tool. Combining an original photograph, traditional photographic knowledge and modern AI technology opens up new possibilities for visual storytelling and experimentation.

My photographic work

This website is a collection of my photographic work, experiments and projects. It reflects both where photography started for me and where it is heading today — from a fully manual analogue camera to modern digital photography and AI-assisted creativity.
